My community makes my pursuit in science possible.

Public school teachers play an essential role in the lives of many children.

Growing up, I remember how my mom dedicated countless personal hours before and after school to her students and me in order to provide us with the best education possible, utilizing a variety of pedagogical methods to teach concepts, showing videos and immersing all of her students (including me) in activities that were educationally meaningful.

I would not be a scientist if my mom had not advocated for my education as a child with hearing loss. During my doctoral studies, I will also devote time to fostering scientific communication and access to marginalized communities. As a scientist, I will advocate for education across socioeconomic, political, and cultural divides and ability. I will develop programs that promote inclusion in science by developing educational resources for teachers, inviting interested students to Stanford University to develop and perform their own research, and ultimately sharing science with broader and often marginalized communities.
